About Us + FAQs

  • Who is Dr. Detail?

As a capstone to a successful business career, Eric Doner turned his lifetime love of cars into a paid hobby as ‘Dr. Detail’ in 2017. What started as helping friends and family care for their cars became a thriving business. As word spread, he has been joined by others and developed several successful partnerships with other detailing experts, car clubs, and event organizers.

His home garage has grown into a fully-equipped, extensive LED-lit, and secure shop to provide expert vehicle detailing; from basic to resale and show-ready cars, SUVs and trucks. Services include exterior/interior cleaning, paint restoration, polishing, ceramic coating, paint touch-up, and minor bodywork.

Colleague Alex Edge has a knack for polishing and pet hair removal. He is most adept with an orbital polisher or a vacuum wand in his hands.

  • Do you provide mobile service?

We provide extensive interior and exterior detailing from our well-equipped shop with effective lighting and abundant power where we work on your vehicle in a secure space. We don’t do mobile detailing because it requires additional overhead costs that we don’t want to pass on to our clients. If you require services at your home or office, there are reputable mobile detailers in most areas.

  • What do you charge for a typical detail?

There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ detail. Every car, SUV or truck requires different degrees of attention, depending on its age, size, and condition.  We have found that every owner has different expectations and needs that we hope to meet. To accurately estimate your detail investment, we carefully inspect each vehicle, confirm your budget, and propose a fair price based on value provided.

  • How long does it take to detail my vehicle?

The time required for a proper and complete interior & exterior detail for most vehicles is a minimum of one full day. Large trucks and SUVs usually require up to two days. Compact cars can usually be completed in about 4-5 hours. Vehicles with especially neglected paint or heavily soiled interiors require extra time for paint correction and cleaning.

Some clients cannot commit their car for an entire day, and opt to have it detailed over two visits; normally on two consecutive days.  Note: During extended hot summer days, we limit our work from 6 am until noon.

  • What makes Dr. Detail different from other detail shops?

Our business is operated by motoring enthusiasts with extensive experience producing car show award-winners. We treat each vehicle as well as our own. We operate a private studio and work on only one vehicle at a time, ensuring that your ride gets our full attention – it’s all in the details.

  • Do you guarantee your work?

We cannot control how owners care for their cars after they leave our shop, which limits what we can guarantee.  However, we guarantee headlight restoration for one year. We also guarantee ceramic coatings for one year – when you return for a complimentary ceramic refresh within six months.

  • Do you accept credit cards?

We accept all major credit/debit cards through the Square payment system. We also accept cash, checks and fund transfer via Zelle.

  • When are you free?

When returning clients call to ask this, we typically respond with: “We’re never free, but always a great value!”
