About Us + FAQs

  • Who is Dr. Detail?

Upon retiring from a long and successful business career, I  turned my lifetime love of cars into a paid hobby as ‘Dr. Detail’ in 2017. What started as helping friends and family care for their cars became a thriving part-time activity. I've been fortunate to develop valued partnerships with other detailing experts, chemical suppliers, and event organizers.

My home garage is fully-equipped, with extensive lighting and power, and multiple products and tools to provide expert vehicle detailing; from basic wash & wax to preparing cars for lease return, resale and  car shows. I've worked on a broad variety of cars, SUVs and trucks - if they are not oversized. Services include exterior/interior cleaning, paint restoration, polishing, ceramic coating, and paint touch-up.

My grandsons are occasional helpers. They have proven to be coachable and have developed a knack for car care.

  • How long does it take to detail my vehicle?

The time required for a proper and complete interior & exterior detail for most vehicles is a minimum of one full day. Large trucks and SUVs usually require up to two days. Compact cars can usually be completed in about 4-5 hours. Vehicles with especially neglected paint or heavily soiled interiors require extra time for paint correction and cleaning.

Some clients cannot commit their car for an entire day, and opt to have it detailed over two visits; normally on two consecutive days.  Note: During extended hot summer days, we limit our work from 7am until about noon or 1 o'clock.

  • What makes Dr. Detail different from other detail shops?

I am a motoring enthusiast with extensive experience producing car show award-winners. I treat each vehicle as well or better than my own. I operate a private 'boutique' studio and work on only one vehicle at a time, ensuring that your ride gets my full attention – it’s all in the details.

  • Do you guarantee your work?

We cannot control how owners care for their cars after they leave our shop, which limits what we can guarantee.  However, we guarantee headlight restoration for one year. We also guarantee ceramic coatings for one year – when you return for a complimentary ceramic refresh within six months.

  • Do you accept credit cards?

We accept all major credit/debit cards through the Square payment system. We also accept cash, checks and fund transfer via Zelle.

  • When are you free?

When returning clients call to ask this, we typically respond with: “We’re never free, but always a great value!”

Please remember: There is always somebody cheaper, but nobody better!
